The budget cutters in Columbus have proposed to eliminate the Family Support Service Program, FSSP, (also known as the Family Resource Service Program) by rolling all of its funding into general subsidy for County Boards of MR/DD.
This means that a County Board of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities could use the FFSP money any way it chooses. It would have no requirement to use it to support families through respite care, home modification, summer recreation programs like camp, special diets, diapers, etc.
67% of people with developmental disabilities live in their family homes and are cared for by their families………
BUT currently only 6.6 million dollars, or 2% of the of the department budget, was proposed to support the families caring for the 67% of people with developmental disabilities who live in their family homes.
Now even that is proposed to be eliminated, by the budget cutters.
Your Voice Matters:
Tell them to continue support to the families who care for 67% of Ohioans with disabilities by retaining the Family Support Services line item and not turning it into County Board Subsidy. We are not asking for additional money, just to retain what we have.

To whom it may concern-
The phone number listed on your website does not belong to governor Strickland (614-466-4357) – it belongs to the OIT computer helpdesk for The State of Ohio, and has for over 30 yrs. I should know – I work on the helpdesk. My co-workers and I are being flooded with phone calls because of someone’s error in posting the incorrect phone number on your website. Please remedy as soon as possible. Thanks.

Our deepest apologies for you inconvenience.
Were you able to transfer the calls or provide the supporters with the correct contact information? We'd hate for all those calls to be lost.
One of our larger chapters provided us with that number, in the future we'll do more to double check our information.
