Tom Eamoe, The Arc's Executive Director, attended meetings in Columbus early this week with Martin, ODMRDD Director, along with other Arc of Ohio leadership. They discussed this issue at length to what appeared to be no avail.
We learned that funding for the Family Support Service Program (FSSP) line item was restored to the Ohio biennium Budget at the very last minute in the final conference committee deliberations!!!!!!
This marvelous achievement was made possible by the great many of you who responded to our legislative alerts two weeks ago about this issue. We had the largest response in legislative contacts via all media, to restore FSSP, that we have ever had to any legislative alert.
THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! for all each of you did to make this possible. This restoration, in the face of the current economic pressures on our legislature, is truly amazing and could not have happened without the efforts of each and every one of you who responded.
It is great to be reminded from time to time that legislative advocacy really does achieve miracles on behalf of people with developmental disabilities and their families.
All the best and thank you once again.

Thank you to all of you for supporting The Arc, and many other advocates working to restore funds to support the families of people with developmental disabilities.
